Tips for the Right Way to Brush with Braces

The key to brushing your teeth with braces on is doing it gently with a soft-bristled brush. It is going to be of benefit to you to treat your teeth with care while there are brackets on them. You do not want to fray your toothbrush trying to brush your teeth.

We know that sometimes people with braces eat sticky food they shouldn’t and end up with food stuck in their braces. Be careful trying to remove this food or you could end up with a broken bracket or snapped wire which would require urgent attention from your orthodontist.

You should continue brushing in the morning and night or after you eat when you have braces. That won’t change. But, in order to clean between the bracket and the teeth, holding the toothbrush at an angle above and below the braces will accomplish your goal.

You can continue to floss your teeth with braces if you do it carefully. You should be using waxed floss because it will help you avoid deterioration which can get stuck in your braces.

Maintaining proper dental care is important to avoid having dental issues, so coming in for a regular check-up is also going to prevent you from having to deal with uncomfortable issues with your braces.
