Looking for the “Why” in an Orthodontic Problem
You may be here because you are wondering if orthodontic treatment is right for you. An orthodontic problem that may warrant intervention includes overcrowded teeth, crooked teeth, a bad bite, jaw pain, and more. When patients come to our office, we try to identify the “why”. Or rather, we try to uncover the reasons for the issues you are experiencing and help formulate the best treatment plan to help you achieve better stability in the end.

- When we see new patients, the first visit is one of the most important of all subsequent visits for us. This is because it gives us an opportunity to take a look at a mouth unchanged by orthodontics, thereby identifying the factors that contribute to orthodontic problems.
- We explain this approach of finding the “why” to the parents of our younger patients. Why does the patient have a malocclusion? Why are the teeth crooked or crowded? This approach enables us to perform more accurate diagnoses and achieve better stability in the end.
- We often get caught up in looking at how to move teeth. Although the “how” is important, the why is much more so. This is because understanding the “why” gives us a better chance to achieve stability after treatment.
