How Long Does Orthodontic Treatment Take?
You are here because you are considering orthodontic treatment but have concerns about how long you will need to wear braces following treatment. One of the most common questions we receive from patients is, “How long does orthodontic treatment take to complete?” In the following educational video, experienced Buffalo orthodontist Dr. Steven J. Hietanen explains the orthodontic treatment timeline.
- Every case is individual and unique. That is is why we offer free consultations. When a patient comes in for a first consultation, we examine their problems. We then explain to the the patient what is wrong, what needs work.
- Once patients recognize the extent of the problem, it becomes simple for them to understand how we estimate the length of their treatment.
- Some treatments can be completed in as few as 12 weeks, while others may take two years. In some cases, it may even take longer. The average orthodontic treatment, across the profession in general, is approximately 24 months, even though many cases can be treated in less time.
