- When a patient first comes into our office, we initiate a preliminary consultation. During this visit, we try to identify specific problems and determine whether orthodontic treatment is required and appropriate.
- If we determine that the patient will benefit from orthodontic treatment, we move on to next steps. This step involves beginning a record appointment, which takes place on the same day. We then schedule an appointment to discuss the treatment more specifically.
- After that discussion, the patient enters active orthodontics. The schedule normally follows a 4-6 week pattern during which we actively try to move teeth.
- Appointments are less frequent during stretches of treatment. this is when we are just watching the patient’s progress or observing them in a rest phase. We may even see them only once every 3-6 months.
