  • To fully diagnose orthodontic problems, we typically need to compile what we call an orthodontic record. During the initial appointment, we take regular camera photographs of the patient’s bite. This allows us to gain a clear picture of how the teeth are fitting together. We also show these pictures to the patient.
  • The second step toward a complete orthodontic record includes x-rays. These enable us to measure jaw lengths and discrepancies, and identify the growth and development of the patient’s teeth.
  • Lastly, we make study models from molds of the teeth that show how the bite fits together.
  • Once we have that information, we can measure growth and development, put the information together and fully diagnose what we need to do for each patient.
