The Craniofacial Center aims to help improve outcomes for patients through coordinated care, education, research, and advocacy. The Center specializes in the treatment of cleft lip & palate, craniofacial malformations, craniosynostosis, ear anomalies, and hypernasal speech.
Established in 1988, trained professionals of the Laurence C. Wright Craniofacial Center at Oishei Children’s Hospital evaluate and treat individuals with congenital and acquired disorders of the face and cranium. Nationally recognized as an American Cleft-Palate Craniofacial Association (ACPA) Approved Team, and fully approved by the Commission on Approval of Teams as a Cross-Specialty Team, the Center specializes in the treatment of:
- Clefts of the lip and palate
- Craniofacial malformations
- Craniosynostosis
- Ear anomalies
- Hypernasal speech
The Craniofacial Center aims to optimize outcomes for patients through coordinated care, education, research, and advocacy. The team provides a comprehensive initial evaluation, beginning with the prenatal consultation, and ongoing coordination of services to assure quality and continuity of patient care.
ACPA accreditation ensures that care is provided in a coordinated and consistent manner within the framework of the patient’s overall developmental, medical and psychological needs.
The Craniofacial Center considers the individual needs of the patient and his/her family in addition to those of the referring and/or primary care physician. The Center also has a parent’s group, the Miles for Smiles organization, with a mission to improve the quality of life for patients with special needs and craniofacial differences through fundraising for education and support.
